My 90-Day Plan: A Bold Vision for Flossmoor
In my first 90 days as Mayor, I am committed to creating a more transparent, accountable, and engaged local government. My First 90 Days in Office plan ensures that we operate efficiently, inclusively, and always with the best interests of Flossmoor’s residents at heart. I will take immediate action to assess our government’s strengths and opportunities, revitalize community engagement, drive economic development, and foster intergenerational connections that strengthen the fabric of our village.
A Transparent and Accountable Government
One of my first actions as mayor will be to commission a third-party, 360 Performance Review of the entire village government. This multi-directional review will gather feedback from residents, businesses, employees, and administration. This will provide a clear and unbiased assessment of what we do well and where we can improve. By creating a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement, we will ensure Flossmoor operates at its highest potential.
I will also restructure the Village Board meeting process by initiating Meetings of the Whole—a format that allows for open, informal discussions among the mayor, trustees, administration, employees, and residents. These meetings will encourage collaboration, deeper discussions, and consensus-building on important issues before formal voting occurs.
Additionally, I will increase trustee involvement in the governance process by assigning each trustee to a village commission as a liaison. This will strengthen oversight and transparency while ensuring that our strategic plan remains the guiding framework for decision-making. To further support financial transparency, I will establish a Finance and Budget Commission, giving residents a direct role in reviewing the village’s fiscal health and helping us make responsible, informed financial decisions.
Revitalizing Flossmoor’s Economy
A strong, thriving business community is vital to our village’s long-term success. Within my first 90 days, I will poll residents to understand what types of businesses they want to see in Flossmoor—ensuring that development aligns with community interests and needs.
Recognizing the importance of strategic economic leadership, I will hire an economic development professional with a proven track record of attracting businesses and securing grants. This professional will lead efforts to support both current and new businesses by providing sustainability grants, loan programs, and educational resources that foster long-term success.
Civic Engagement: Bridging Generations for a Stronger Flossmoor
I am passionate about strengthening connections between generations in our community. I will partner with local school district superintendents to create a structured mentorship program that connects retired professionals and empty nesters with local youth.
Studies show that mentorship fosters both professional and psychological success. Young people gain career insights and guidance, while older adults find renewed purpose by sharing their expertise and staying engaged with the community. This reciprocal mentorship model will benefit students and adults and create a more connected, engaged, and supportive Flossmoor.
